Well, there are few drugs available for lowering cholesterol in the blood. Pravachol belongs to a class of drugs called statins - which directly interfere with cholesterol synthesis in the body. Examples of other statins are Lipitor, Zocor, Crestor and Mevacor - these are trade names.
Pravachol, while some benefits such as reduced side effects compared with other statins, but is more expensive and is also known that drug use among minors in its class. While other statins such as Lipitor and Zocor, are widely studied and is believed that more than potent in reducing cholesterol and cause a positive impact in time to heart attack - a somewhat higher incidence of adverse reactions to a compromise. How should the ideal of statins (cholesterol drugs) by the doctors themselves are decided and is often an individual decision.

Does not work at all for me, but every body is different. I have tried everything. Zocor seems to me to work without side effects. If one does'nt work for you or you have side effects, your doctor may change smoothly.
As always, we first sample.
